Don’t fret! (if you are) there is plenty more ButterSword to come. This is only the end of the first issue. I’m not sure of the web equivalent of an issue. Chapter? We’ll call it a chapter I guess.
Hey wow! I finished a whole comic book! Minus cover and interior cover and extras but… still! Sure it’s riddled with mistakes throughout, and no artist’s work is ever finished. Only abandoned.
Not that I’m saying I’m an artist. More of a jack-of-all-arts. I spent over ten years playing the drums professionally as well you see. Speaking of drums…

If you live in the Austin area, I’ll be performing percussion at Mozart’s Coffee Roasters this Friday with The Judith Miller Band to benefit the family of our dear friend and bandmate Jim Erickson who is now no longer with us and will be missed. Come and join the celebration.

The show must go on. Jim Erickson would certainly agree with that fact. ButterSword presents Cookin’ Good… In Space!
As you may or may not have noticed, a lot of free advertising space is currently available here on ButterSword. I might have been a tad overzealous about finally becoming eligible for Project Wonderful advertising. Please take advantage and place an ad here for free. Also wish us luck. Maybe we’ll start making a little change. Change can be good as long as it doesn’t involve 12 steps.
Lastly I’d like to add that I think a great alternative spelling for ‘like’ would be ‘liek’ because I think it looks cool, but that isn’t what I had to say. What I had to say was I’ll be busy prepping The New Beginning for print and I may correct a little of this and that but mostly I’ll be gearing up for chapter two. Before I tackle another lengthy chapter however, I’ll be posting some complete silliness for a few posts so I hope you’ll join us Friday for the start of all that.
As always thank you so much for reading and we hope you’ll keep reading. We’ll see you next time on ButterSword!

At least Curtis & Ann aren’t leaking head fluid like the robots. I guess that’s a good sign. Lookng forward to chapter 2 as I really liek the story. I call them chapters too.
I just checked & I have a spacebar on my keyboard too.
Definitely a good sign regarding leaking heads. Thanks Tony! I’m glad you liek the story so far. Chapters is a good name for them. I’m thinking the name for my chapter 2 might be: ‘Lost and Found’.
I can’t imagine a keyboard without a spacebar. All_that_underscoring_would_be_a_pain.
We have a spacebar too. Dave’s the Spacebarman
Welcome Barry!
I think you meant space bar even though that’s what it sounded like you said.
I hope CAT doesn’t find that space bar right away.
HEHE “Whats the difference between a regular bar and a space bar”
I like the ending of the first chapter.
Thanks Hjörtur! I’m glad you liked the ending.
I like to make the classic cliffhanger style ‘tune in next week’ sort of thing I guess.
I think the space bar difference is getting fuzzy around here. At least in my mind.
I should celebrate the chapter with a space drink or two…
Maybe the difference will become more clear.
Spacebar…. see i know the difference.
I guess if we make it to the future they’ll have reality shows about spaceship interior design:
“And if we take out this wall, we’ll have more bar space for the space bar”.
no it’s my arch enemy “to be continude”
Muahahaha!
I like the bird’s eye view and I’m looking forward to checking out what’s next, too.
I’ll just be hanging out by the keyboard, er, Space-bar!
Thanks SpilledInkGuy! I think many of us are usually near one or the other.
Great cliffhanger ending to the first issue. He’s been thru a lot so I can understand his knocked-out exhaustion. And you can just bet the adventure isn’t over yet. I’m enjoying the ride, MC!
Thank you George! Likewise.
I’m sure Curtis is exhausted as well as stun blasted, but he has more fight left in him after a quick nap I’m sure.
sometime that all it takes
Wow first off so many comments. Your readership is really growing. Wish mine was. Second sorry to hear about your friend. And last when can I buy this wonderful comic book. I would love to own one. I would really liek that.
Haha! Thanks Fred! It’s great to finally have an audience and we owe it to Tony McGurk discovering us. It was really lucky for us.
You were one of the few who knew of our old daily comic journals that began in December 2008, but those will mostly resurface here in color eventually.
The book will be available soon. This week I’ll be drumming all week but I’ll keep after the ButterSword as well.
And don’t worry. I really liek your comics and I’m sure others will as well.
So if this is the end of the beginning, is the next chapter the beginning of the end?
“No artist’s work is ever finished. Only abandoned.” So very true!
Chapter 2 might be ‘Lost and Found’ or now maybe ‘The Beginning of the End’ because I like that too.
I mean… I ‘liek’ that too.
That’s awesome you play drums! Good luck, good luck!
Thank you Laura-Marie. I use to play drums and percussion for a living. It’s been a long time, but I’ll be fine. I was the best.
Hi, MC. I listened to the Judith Miller Band when you played at Blue Jay Garden a few weeks ago. I was intrigued by the drum set you were using. This was a small system that had a couple of tiny cymbals and a couple of pads – it looked like. Was this a digital drum set? I would like to find something similar to it. Thanks. Joe
Thanks Joe! Welcome to ButterSword.
In regard to your question:
I was using a pair of bongos and two splash cymbals. Also the tambourine shoe.
The bongos had microphones on them the first night we played there. Last night inside we didn’t need the microphones and I added a second pair of bongos (the bongo shield) across my lap.
Some of my crazy drum inventions can be seen at these two links below: (scroll down below the comic to the blog beneath)

I’d like to hear more about what you’d like to accomplish, and maybe be of more help.
I can be reached at buttersword@gmail.com
What about the task bar?
The Task Bar doesn’t much sound like a watering hole I would frequent, but hey… maybe they have a great happy hour. Who knows?
Glad that hurricane passed you by!
how long until the next issue starts
Not long. We have a short interlude during which we WILL be posting comics on our regular schedule of Monday and Friday. We hope you will join us for those comics as well.
The next chapter will begin after another two posts. Three maybe. Four max.
Okay, I won’t fret, but only because you say so… You are pulling a Michael Crichton here, killing everyone at the end.
It’s true it’s true! I’m evil!
Call the ER!
But I haven’t turned any tyrannosaurus loose yet.
Thanks Midtoon!
Oh boy, I hope I survive! I always thought there would be more prodding and less battling with an alien spacecraft ascent. I don’t really want any alien prodding though either.
Really enjoyed reading the Chapter 1 so far, looking forward to the next one
Thank you alecho! You’re awesome!
