What is ButterSword? (Not to be confused with What is a ButterSword, explained further down below).
ButterSword is many things, but if it’s not a webcomic then I’m not sure what is. If it is a webcomic, it has evolved into fiction by this point. Fiction about the misadventures of Curtis and Ann across multiple planets and planes of existence.
If you enjoy science fiction and fantasy you might like ButterSword. If you enjoy action, drama, and comedy you might like ButterSword. Since this is now once again a new webcomic there is no better time to give ButterSword a try.
We’ll also be including Classic ButterSword Revised below the new comics on most of the posts. Classic ButterSword Revised is a new look at some of the best and not-so-best comics from the daily comic journals we ran here for over two years. We’ll be polishing the old comics with color and preparing a collection to shop for publication and/or syndication and we’ll even be doing some of our first animated cartoons with some of the comics we find to be useful for putting our voices to.
Jen will also be including her popular comics and art now and then when she feels inspired to create. (Jen and MC are defined below under Who is ButterSword).
We will also continue to blog, although likely not as frequently or as personally as we have in the past. MC can become very destructive, and instead of blogging out of obligation he’ll be reserving his thoughts for entertainment purposes only.
Jen will contribute to the blog as well.
Lastly, various pages will begin to appear about subjects and topics only semi-related or even unrelated to the current webcomic as we find the time for discussing our interests. Subjects like games and computer games, gardening, home improvement and do-it-yourself will once again begin to resurface.
Soon enough, we’ll be updating the ABOUT page itself if all goes more successfully this time around.
When is ButterSword?
Currently, ButterSword is twice a week after it’s relaunch May 13th. It was every day for over two years, but unless it begins achieving success, it never will be again.
Where is ButterSword?
ButterSword is in the hearts and minds of every red-blooded Fintari from the planet Niktikplek. It’s in the eyes of every Dust Garbler struggling to claw it’s way into the mystical doorway of Obe. And it’s on the internet.
Who is ButterSword?
ButterSword and everything related and lying within these pages is the work of MC and Jen. MC and Jen were once also the stars of ButterSword, but now their avatars have been renamed Curtis and Ann, and there are more differences between MC and Jen and Curtis and Ann, although Curtis and Ann are still basically MC and Jen. But not really.
Why is ButterSword?
We ask ourselves that very same question almost every single day. ButterSword exists as an expression and as a goal. It exists as the only connection between two true hermits and the outside world they both loathe and love. It’s a journey that has evolved into storytelling. It’s also a hobby and the most pathetic personal business ever crafted. A learning experience. A labor of… many things.
So far we’ve only had a few questions asked by anyone more than once and only one frequently asked question. Therefore a separate page for frequently asked questions just isn’t necessary at this point. We’ll go ahead and answer the one question we get however.
What the heck is a ButterSword anyway?
A ButterSword is a crappy sword that is either dull, unbalanced, cursed, or for whatever reason is ineffective in combat. It can also be in regard to the wielder of said sword. A clumsy swordsman.
Those were it’s beginnings, but now you can find artist renderings of yellow swords made of butter or dripping with butter. Several computer games now have hard to find magic items called butter swords but they are often now quite excellent swords. Some in fact, are only available with cheat codes or by modding a game.
When Jen and I named our comic, we had no knowledge of any of this. We simply combined two words into an available word and thought of it more or less as a huge butter knife.
Personally I also liked the fact that it was B.S.
For us it has no meaning except that it is part of who we are and part of what we do. Also it kind of rocks in a comical sort of way. ButterSword!
About the authors:
MC and Jen consider themselves a pair of Jack-Of-All-Arts. They aren’t particularly outstanding at drawing, or writing, or making websites, or coloring, or any of the skills required for webcomics. However, necessity dictates that they do it all and so they do. They also dabble in music, other art, carpentry, gardening, inventing and project after project after project.
Thanks for reading. —MC and Jen
